Getting bulk spice packaging right
Packaging is part of the buying specification. Define the format before comparing offers or approving a sample.
Match the pack to the product
Whole spices and powders can have different handling needs. Discuss the material, liner and closure with the supplier for the specific commodity.
Confirm net and gross weight
Record the net quantity per pack and the expected shipping weight. Ask how bag count, pallets and other packing materials are reflected in the quotation.
Review the marking
Buyer name, product description, batch identification and other markings should be agreed before packing. Destination-specific labelling needs require a separate review.
Check the shipment arrangement
Agree whether bags move loose or on pallets, what handling is expected, and how packing condition will be checked. Photograph and document the agreed format where useful.
